Electrox gains strength from restructure

Electrox, part of The 600 Group Plc and a world leader in the design, development and manufacture of laser marking systems, has appointed Paul Mincher as General Manager.

Paul (pictured left) has been with the company for over 15 years and has been instrumental in managing the changes brought about by the 600 Group’s restructuring.

Paul Mincher, said: “Electrox like many businesses has not been unaffected by the ongoing economic turmoil, but the changes we have made internally have helped us to improve our efficiencies and customer service, providing us with a solid foundation from which to move forward and grow. We are beginning to see order levels return to a more normal level, with increased enquiries and order visibility.”

Some of the changes include the creation of a dedicated technical support group who oversee projects from concept to delivery, providing extensive training for the end user as well as ongoing aftersales and technical support. The development team remains strong with excellent engineering skills at its core enabling the company to be responsive to the markets and customers it serves. There have been significant improvements to delivery times since the changes were implemented.

The sales teams have been strengthened with the appointment of Peter Ramsden (pictured right) as Sales Director leading a more co-ordinated sales approach focussed on identifying new markets and applications.

Peter said: “We now have very good market coverage based on an extensive network of competent and successful distributors in Europe and Asia and our own direct sales offices in UK, France and USA.  Our product range is now more competitive than ever before and I am confident that we will see substantial business growth when the global economy starts to recover.”

In the last six months there have been a number of software developments including a printer driver, enabling the laser to be used as printer, an auto beam expander which removes the need for manual Z axis adjustment, and a side view camera function which allows for a live image of the process reducing end user time and costs.

David Norman, Chief Executive of 600 Group plc said: “Electrox forms an important part of 600 Group as we go forward. Electrox has exciting prospects; there is a global requirement for the marking, identification and traceability of almost everything from cows to medical devices and packaging, the scope for laser marking of materials and applications is endless. Electrox is, I believe, in a better position now than it has ever been to exploit the market potential for laser marking.”

Back office functions including accounts and marketing have been centralised at 600 Europe in Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire.
