International launch for Colchester-Harrison at EMO 2007
EMO 2007 in Hannover will feature the latest Colchester-Harrison product line encompassing Tornado CNC lathes, Alpha manual/CNC teach lathes and Storm vertical machining centres.
The machine tool line-up will feature launches of the latest Tornado T4-HD two-axis lathe T8MS and T8MSY multi-axis mill/turn centres Alpha 1800XS large bore flat-bed manual/CNC lathe and Alpha 1400XR teach lathe. It will also be the first showing of the Storm range of vertical machining centres represented by the Storm VMC 1020 and VMC 1000.
The spindle power and size of the linear ways of the new Tornado T4-HD are significantly increased to provide enhanced cutting capability and the popular T8MS subspindle mill/turn centre and T8MSY with a + 40 mm Y-axis cross-feed to the turret, a new turret design has enabled the driven tool specification to be increased by 100 per cent to 10,000 revs/min, powered by a high torque 10 kW drive.
A Siemens Sinumerik 802D-SI control having Manual Mode Plus software will be demonstrated on an Alpha 1400XR while the new 3m bed Alpha 1800XS-LB will be fitted with the standard Manual Guide I system with a new ‘lighthouse’ rear toolpost.
High rigidity and providing that little extra in metal removal and machining capacity for a very competitive price will be the theme demonstrated with the Storm VMC range. Machines represented include the VMC 1020 and VMC 1000 giving the user the option of high speed linear ways or heavy duty, hardened and ground solid ways. The machines can be specified with spindle speeds up to 12,000 revs/min.
