James Fisher - 600 Centre's new Operations Director

600 Centre expands management team with Operations Director

James Fisher has been appointed as 600 Centre's new Operations Director, responsible for spares, customer support, service, equipment importation and logistics.

A new post of Operations Director has been created at the machine tool sales business of 600 Group plc to oversee spares and customer support, service, equipment importation and logistics involving delivery, installation and commissioning of customer machines as well as internal and external liaison for turnkey installations with the technical support team and product specialists.  In addition, internal requirements for facilities management, IT infrastructure, and cost reductions, will form part of this key role in the revised business.

James Fisher 41, has been appointed to take this responsibility based on his background developed as service manager at the company since 1992.  Prior to this he joined the 600 Group as service engineer in 1989 following an apprenticeship split between Alfred Herbert and TI Matrix Herbert Churchill.

Said 600 Centre Managing Director Ray Grocock: “The 600 Centre has changed radically over the last six months with major turnkey projects ongoing and the additional responsibility for Fuji Machine sales and service throughout Europe.  We now have a team of 15 service engineers covering the Colchester-Harrison lathe range, Fanuc vertical machining centres and wire EDM, Okamoto grinding machines and Toyoda Mitsui Seiki cells and systems which means we have to increase our very effective management structure.”

He follows on to explain how James’s experience from his working life in the machine tool business, with his detailed product and principal knowledge and his involvement with mechanical, IT, electronics and software, made him the perfect choice for the new role.
