600 Centre forecasts MACH business to drive order book into 2009
“Companies were actively shopping for machine tools and the level of activity and quality of enquiries is something we have never experienced at a UK exhibition before,” said Sales Director David Wilkinson of 600 Centre.
David's team of regional sales engineers and product specialists are working through almost 700 enquiries taken over the five days of MACH 2008 at the NEC.
“Quite often,” he maintains, “a lot of enquiries are from visitors looking interested which then die when the sales team follow up. But from this show not only did we take 11 orders worth several hundred thousand pounds on the stand, but also we are quoting against live projects with order and delivery potential that stretches well into 2009,” he said.
The 400 m˛ 600 Centre stand had 22 machines from its portfolio of Toyoda-Mitsui Seiki, Fanuc, Fuji, Colchester-Harrison, Okamoto and Dalian covering turning, turn-milling, milling, grinding and wire EDM. On the stand presentations focused on application and its turnkey capability specifically targeted at automotive, aerospace and subcontract sectors.
Indeed, according to Mr Wilkinson there was a continuous flow of visitors, especially from the subcontract sector, that stretched from start to finish of each day. He said: “In our post show ‘shake-down’ meeting we were amazed how every area of technology we support, including some very specialist technical solutions, received quality enquiries with the promise of future business.”
